Abstract:

This evaluation report is based on summative evidence, taking place after completion of the project.  Quantitative data, such as beneficiary numbers, courses taken and qualifications gained was provided by the Project Manager and confirmed to EEDA as part of the on-going project monitoring process.  Qualitative data has been gained from two key areas: the writer’s own working knowledge of the project and project papers including the initial and full ESF/EEDA application forms, monitoring reports and Steering Group minutes.  These sources allowed an overview of project activity but also identified areas where further explanation, exploration or confirmation was required.  Where variations or issues have become evident, additional information from partners, trainers, beneficiaries and employers were sought.  This triangulation of data collection allows opinion to be formed and confirmed by a wide and diverse audience.
The evaluation team was allowed access to the College’s working files on the Developing the Night Time Economy project and has based its report on information from key areas.  As this information is compiled on behalf of the funding organisation and the college is held as audible evidence, the evaluation team considers information gained from these sources to be an accurate account.
A telephone survey of beneficiaries willing to complete a questionnaire was undertaken and a response taken from three groups.  The data from this exercise showed that the full range of possible scores was recorded and the evaluation team has found evidence that the project team has responded pro-actively to the findings.
